Saline County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) For Children

Saline County CASA trains community members to advocate for abused and neglected children who are in the court system because of abuse and/or neglect.  Saline County CASA currently has 36 advocates serving 66 children.  The advocates speak up for these children with the court system, social service agencies, and others involved in the child's life.

Saline County CASA has a Board of Directors consisting of 11 community members who volunteer their time to the program.  These11 members make the by-laws and take care of fund raising efforts to support the program.  The Saline County CASA Board of Directors meet once a month and call special meetings when necessary.

To reach our goal and insure that every child receives a safe home, CASA would like to have an advocate for every abused and neglected child in Saline County. Currently 66 out of the 107 children in the court system are being served. New advocates are needed in order to assure that every child has a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.  To become an advocate or make a donation, contact our office at 618 253-3355 or any member of the board.

On Saturday, September 21, 2013 we hosted a benefit for Tim Ramsey of Harrisburg.  Tim has Stage III Colon Cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments.  Like many Americans, Tim works hard, but has no medical insurance.  In the weeks following his extensive hospital stay and diagnosis, medical bills have put his family in serious financial hardship.

The day began at 8:00 a.m. for OHV/ATV enthusiasts. Live entertainment featuring music by The Bolin Family - Blue Grass Musicians and Most Wanted rocked the crowd in the afternoon.  We served hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, chips and sodas with a percentage of the proceeds going to the family.

Special events that day included Barrel Racing, Caterpillar Crawl, The Ridge Run

and an Off Road Poker Run.

If you were unable to attend but would like to make a donation,
please make checks payable to: Williams Hill Pass, memo: Tim Ramsey

and mail to 1935 Peak Road, Harrisburg, Illinois 60148
